Living with the Ecstatic Bunny

The Ecstatic bunny sounds like a lot of fun, doesn't it?  After all, who wouldn't want a happy go lucky, affectionate bunny that basically acts like a puppy.  Hmmm.  I can think of a few examples - but we will get to that.  Let's start with a

Brief Description:   This bunny is a charmer!  It rarely meets a stranger because everyone is a potential friend or audience.  As hinted about, this bunny has tons of energy, that can often be described as explosive.  An Ecstatic bunny will often jump right out of its cage and into your arms.  It eagerly runs TOWARDS you when you call, or even when it just sees you.  The ecstatic bunny seems to be void of prey instinct and typically acts like an optimist - as if it assumes that it will always be safe, loved and happy.  The Ecstatic bunny is all joy and sunshine.

Tips for Living with your Ecstatic Bunny and Loving it!

* Enjoy your bunny.  There is a lot to love.  Having an Ecstatic bunny is like adding sunshine to your day.  It is always cheerful, and always more than willing to cheer you up.  If you create a routine, your ecstatic bunny will greet you when you come home, likely tear towards you at a frightening speed, and wait at your feet to be pet, or just jump right into your arms.  It will be more than thrilled with the attention you lavish on it.  Your friends will fall in love with your adorable bunny that acts like a puppy, running right up to visitors to be pet and playing with toys.

* You noticed how the Ecstatic bunny comes with only one con, right?  Well that's because there is only one.  But it's significant.  Imagine the bunny running towards you.  Before it actually reaches you, a virtual explosion of energy hits you.  Then it jumps into your lap.  You think I'm kidding.  Nope.  It's easy to be caught off guard by the Ecstatic bunny's natural intensity. To give you a better understanding, here is a list of situations where it might be challenging:

1.  A QUIET home with a family of only one or two people

2. An owner that is an introvert

3.An owner that has a place for everything, and everything is in its place, who likes things "just so".

4. People who guard their own personal space.

Now, it's not to say that having an Estatic bunny would not work for these people, just that they might not naturally prefer or easily adjust to a bunny like that.

* Manage your Ecstatic bunny's energy.  You can do this by:

*Creating little routines so your bunny knows that for a certain amount of time, or at certain times of the day,  it will get love and attention. Consistently filling those needs will make your bunny feel safe and secure, allowing it to do something other than harass you for attention.

*Give your bunny toys to play with: balls, stuffed animals, tossing toys, chewing toys, etc.  Help your bunny expend some of that energy playing.

 * Help your bunny get into the habit of resting at night, and possibly during early afternoon if it frequently naps at that time.   Do this by putting them in a quiet spot, free of distractions and toys, with nothing to do but eat, drink and sleep (like their cage, or a separate napping spot).  Help your bunny calm down by holding or petting it.

The Key:  The Ecstatic bunny is a dream, as long as you stay on top of all that energy and funnel it in the right direction.
